Seoul Jjukkumi is a webfoot-octopus (jjukkumi) restaurant in Jamwon-dong, on the Sinsa side of Nonhyeon in Seoul, four minutes' walk from Nonhyeon Station exit 8. On 24 September 2026 the editor ordered jjukkumi-samgyeop — octopus and pork belly in red chili sauce, cooked in a pan on the table's own burner — at ₩16,000 a portion. The kitchen is open to the room and the owner is warm with guests. Visited unannounced and paid in full by an editor who runs four restaurants in Seoul.

Where
33-5 Sinbanpo-ro 47-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul (Jamwon-dong). Naver Place puts it 231 m from Nonhyeon Station exit 8 (Lines 7 and 9), about four minutes on foot; locals call this stretch Sinsa. Phone 02-516-1134. Visited on Thursday 24 September 2026.

What we ordered
Jjukkumi-samgyeop: webfoot octopus and pork belly in a red chili sauce, cooked in a black pan set on the burner built into the table and finished with sliced green onion. Perilla leaves come on the side for wrapping.

What it cost
₩16,000 per portion, as listed on the menu board by the door (September 2026). The same board lists jjukkumi stir-fry and spicy pork bulgogi at ₩12,000, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) at ₩11,000, steamed egg at ₩8,000 and the jjukkumi hot plate at ₩16,000.

What a restaurant owner notices
The kitchen is open, so every pan leaves the fire in plain view. From the operator's side, that is the detail worth noting: an open kitchen has nothing to hide from the room, and cooks who are watched keep their timing. The owner was friendly, and in a small room of round steel tables and low stools, the owner's manner is most of the atmosphere.

Tip for first-timers
Don't let it catch. Keep stirring, and turn the flame down as soon as the sauce starts to stick. Eat each bite wrapped in a perilla leaf (kkaennip).

The moment I remember
An orange room, round steel tables, a black pan on the table burner, and one red bite folded into a perilla leaf.

On the day (only on this blog)
It was a Thursday, the evening before the Chuseok holiday — the restaurant's Naver listing shows it shut the next day. The 23-second Short above shows the pan going from red and raw-looking to glossy with green onion on top.
